Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) | Turning Point Glassworks

Need help? Our team at Turning Point Glassworks can answer your questions!

Our experts recommend that you replace your windshield if a crack or chip (and the small breaks surrounding it) is larger than 1.25 inches. Anything smaller than that can be repaired, but repairs are not guaranteed to disappear. The idea behind repairs is to prolong the life of your windshield. Most often, you can still see the impact point of the chip.

The rule of thumb is that the lower the percentage is, the darker the film is going to be. Limousines and private cars usually use 5% visible light transmission (VLT) film because it offers those riding inside the most privacy and comfort. We offer 5%, 20%, 35%, 50%, and 70%. Your selection will depend on your needs.

Your windshield does more than just protect you from rocks and other road debris. It also provides protection in the event of an accident. It’s important that you know your windshield is just as important to safety in your car as seat belts and airbags. See our Improper Installation section for further information.
